iWolf’s “Hosted Server Backup” offers the most efficient and robust Virtual Backup Service available for Microsoft Windows, Linux and Apple OSX from your hosted server or hot site to a dedicated backup repository housing your private data-store .

As part of the standard package your private data-store is mirrored across iWolfs “Hardened Cloud” one of our sister Storage Area Networks (SAN). iWolf data centers and data-stores are located in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth. As a paid subscription holder you have the choice of 2 locations for your mirrored data-store.

This split location typology minimizes the potential risk of data loss due natural disasters and hardware failure. All Data Stores are encrypted and password protected to ensure customer confidentiality

Customer data and intellectual property is protected during the backup process through an encrypted IPsec VPN tunnel point to point.

HOW IT WORKS

Backing Up Files

Before the first remote back is implemented, a complete copy of the clients data and intellectual property is encrypted, password protected, shipped to our data center and transferred to the clients dedicated data-store. The data is then decompresses and unencrypted and tested for integrity. Once completed, the following process will be actioned in accordance the client’s “Service Level Agreement” (SLA).

Step 1. iWolfs purpose built security console schedules an IPsec VPN tunnel to connect to the clients hosted server during off-peak hour’s based on your time zone and monthly broadband allowance, providing a cost effective secure mode of connectivity between sites.

Step 2. The clients hosted server logs into iWolf’s security console at the primary data centre and connects directly to their dedicated data-store.

Step 3. The clients server compresses the data and copies the incremental backup through the encrypted VPN tunnel to the remote data-store.

Step 4. When the backup is complete the SMB server signals iWolf’s security console and the VPN is shut down.

Restoring Files
Most restore tasks are processed remotely and delivered instantly to the hosted server instantly. In some rare disaster recovery scenarios where a very large data-store needs to be restored to a hosted server not located in the same data centre, a mobile storage device containing the encrypted and password protected files a shipped via an overnight priority service directly to the hosting data centre.

There are two automated backup solutions.

1) Manage It Yourself. The automated backup process actions automatically every night at the designated time. The customer checks that the process is completed successfully and that the data integrity is good. This is the cheapest option costing only $110.00 per month.

2) Managed Data Services. Each morning, certified iWolf technicians with class 2 security clearances, decompress customer data and verify it’s integrity while being video recorded by iWolf’s watchdog system. Once the data has been verified it is mirrored across to the second data centre where the directory tree is replicated.
